Pasta With Bacon And Peas
Ingredients for Pasta With Bacon And Peas:
Pasta - 8 oz.
Bacon - 6 oz.
Onions - 1 small (finely diced)
Button mushrooms - 1 cup (sliced)
Frozen peas - 1 cup
Parmesan cheese - 1/4 cup (grated)
Salt - 1/4 tsp.
Black pepper - 1/4 tsp. (freshly cracked)
Red pepper flakes - 1/8 tsp. (crushed)
Basil leaves - a handful
Method of preparing the Pasta With Bacon And Peas:
  1. Cook the pasta per instructions and keep 1 cup of the cooking water.
  2. Add the bacon to a large skillet and cook over medium heat. After it's brown and crispy, move the cooked bacon to a paper towel. Leave only about 2 tbsp bacon grease in the pan. Drain the rest.
  3. Add the onions to the remaining bacon grease and sauté for 5 minutes until its tender. Next, add the mushrooms and frozen peas and about ¼ cup of the reserved pasta water to the skillet. Keep stirring until the peas have heated through.
  4. Add the drained pasta to the skillet. Top with Parmesan, salt, pepper, basil, crushed red pepper, and serve.
